US Synthetic in Orem, UT seeks a Maintenance Technician III for night shift Sunday through Thursday, 10pm to 6:30am. The role focuses on troubleshooting and performing advanced repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, with preventative maintenance to maximize uptime.

The incumbent will design and implement machine upgrades, support continuous improvement, and train staff in Total Production Maintenance practices while following safety policies and 5S principles.

Qualifications

  • Completion of higher education degree or certificates in maintenance-related fields and/or 15+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical repair of industrial machines.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • No immigration sponsorship available for this role.
  • Ability to read mechanical, electrical and hydraulic schematics and use them for maintenance repairs.
  • Commitment to safety and 5S in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on a variety of machines and equipment.
  • Advanced troubleshooting for machine issues including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Respond to work orders to improve production capacity and reduce waste.
  • Move machines as needed and participate in equipment upgrades with teams.
  • Train other personnel in maintenance responsibilities and TMP practices.

Job description

This is a grave position (Sunday - Thursday 10pm - 6:30am) and will close 10/12/2026.

US Synthetic has an immediate need for a Maintenance Technician III located in Orem, UT. The Maintenance Technician III will be responsible for troubleshooting and performing advanced repairs on equipment, focusing on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control systems. This role includes conducting preventative maintenance to maximize machine uptime and contributing to continuous improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency.

What You Will Do:
  • Perform preventative maintenance on a large variety of machines and equipment
  • Advanced troubleshooting with machine issues on down-calls and repair equipment per machine schematics whether mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic machines and presses
  • Respond to work orders to improve production capacity or flow and minimize waste
  • Perform machine moves for existing and new machines depending on demand
  • Design and perform upgrades on machines with teams
  • Train others to maintenance responsibilities as needed; direct and train production employees in Total Production Maintenance (TMP) efforts
  • Follow LOTO procedures and use a multimeter in troubleshooting and diagnosing problems
  • Follow all company policies (Attendance, No Tobacco Products on Campus, Illegal Drug & Alcohol, Family Medical Leave Act, Personal Appearance, Personal Electronic Devices, Vacation & Personal Time, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of higher education degree or certificate(s) in Maintenance related fields i.e. AET, Automation Technology, Industrial Maintenance Technology, etc. and/or 15+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical repair of industrial machines
  • High school diploma/GED is required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Immigration sponsorship not available for this role
  • Understand mechanical, electrical and hydraulic schematics and utilize when performing maintenance repairs
  • Willing to comply with safety regulations and maintain clean orderly work area (5S)
Physical Demands:
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb and work from ladders, platforms and machinery
  • Full range of body motion, i.e. lifting, kneeling, squatting and twisting
  • Use of Safety Equipment (Safety glasses, Steel-toed shoes, Hearing protection, occasionally wear a respirator)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, including the application of the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) method, with the ability to think critically and assess cause-and-effect relationships during down-calls.

  • Mechanical and electrical control and motor experience
  • Ability to organize priorities and manage multiple tasks at once
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of three phase and single-phase power systems
  • Basic computer and math skills

  • Capable of certifying operating overhead crane, fork truck and scissor lift
