Job summary

NewGen Technologies is seeking a Resident Engineer to lead a large-scale modernization effort, migrating 20+ applications from Tradition WebSphere to Open Liberty/WebSphere Liberty. The role involves hands-on implementation, performance tuning, and collaboration with United Airlines teams and IBM delivery squads.

You'll guide migrations, provide technical leadership, and develop knowledge transfer deliverables while ensuring production readiness and best practices across the engagement.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required.
• Strong hands-on migration experience from Traditional WAS to Liberty.
• Deep expertise with WebSphere Application Server (Traditional WAS).

Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly skilled Resident Engineer to support a large-scale application modernization initiative involving the migration of 20+ applications from Tradition WebSphere Application Server (WAS) to Open Liberty/WebSphere Liberty.

Ability to implement, install, configure, customize, upgrade, migrate, develop, or design Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) solutions. Support the move from non-production to production environment and participate in knowledge sharing for self-sufficiency. Additionally, be able to perform ELM health checks and performance analysis, recommendations, and tuning.

• Proven Open Liberty / WebSphere Liberty migration experience
• Strong Java development skills
• Application modernization and migration experience
• Hands-on implementation, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and configuration expertise
• Experience working directly with client application teams in an embedded delivery model
• Ability to perform knowledge transfer and create technical documentation
