US Strategy Scientific Director Medical Affairs (SDMA) – Immunology (Remote)

Join to apply for the US Strategy Scientific Director Medical Affairs (SDMA) – Immunology (Remote) role at Merck.

This position involves driving US/Global strategic alignment and optimizing field readiness across USMA's five functional pillars: Scientific Exchange, Company Trials, Investigator Sponsored Programs, Congresses, and Insights.

The SDMA is an experienced therapeutic area leader with expertise in Immunology, medical affairs, and field medical strategy. They collaborate with USMA Field Leaders and global teams to implement regional strategies, facilitate scientific insights, and support global and local scientific activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with global scientific training and content teams to deliver regional training needs.
  • Serving as a scientific interface between GMSA and the US field.
  • Leading scientific aspects of the US medical strategy, including the US Field Execution Plan and training plans.
  • Communicating scientific insights from US field engagements to inform strategies.
  • Participating in scientific congress planning and training content development.
  • Representing USMA in global medical communications and input forums.

Minimum education requirements:

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, DO) relevant to the therapeutic area.

Required experience and skills:

  • At least 5 years in medical affairs or clinical/research experience; field medical experience preferred.
  • 3 years in a therapeutic area with demonstrated scientific acumen.
  • Ability to interpret scientific strategies and communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Experience leading complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong relationship-building and organizational skills, knowledge of US healthcare regulations.

Preferred skills:

  • University teaching experience, quick learning ability, independence, and problem-solving skills.
