Job summary

TD Bank, N.A. seeks a Head of U.S. Software Engineering to lead a transformational technology program across Software and API engineering, quality, DevSecOps, and cloud teams.

You will partner with Technology, Product, Architecture, and Risk to deliver secure, scalable software that accelerates business outcomes. This leadership role demands 15+ years in software with 7+ years in directing software and API teams, strong API security, cloud experience, and a proven ability to drive modernization

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 15+ years in software engineering with at least 7 years in a leadership role overseeing software and API development teams.
• Hands-on experience with API architecture, design, development, and management (RESTful, SOAP, GraphQL).
• Strong knowledge of API security (OAuth, JWT) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, API Gateway).
• Expertise in modern software practices (cloud, microservices, CI/CD).
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficient in agile development methods and tools (Scrum, Jira).
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Provide people leadership by hiring talent, setting goals, and managing performance and compensation decisions.
• Oversee software engineering and API development teams and define strategic direction for software and API solutions.
• Drive adoption of best practices in software engineering, including agile and DevSecOps, to deliver scalable, secure systems.
• Lead lifecycle management of software and APIs from requirements to deployment, with emphasis on security and performance.
• Champion innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across engineering disciplines.
