Join our dynamic Renewable Fuels team as a Research Technician I, where you will play a crucial role in pioneering experimental research and development in renewable and hydrocarbon fuels. This full-time position is based in Richmond, California, offering an exciting opportunity to work under the guidance of experienced research engineers and chemists in a leading innovation organization.

Role Overview
  • Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment in compliance with Richmond Technology Center safety standards.
  • Handle sample collection, storage, and submission for analysis.
  • Manage potentially toxic substances and various renewable and petroleum-derived materials.
  • Perform laboratory activities such as blending, heated filtration, rotavap, sieving, grinding, and other wet chemistry techniques like titration.
  • Conduct basic maintenance and troubleshooting for test equipment.
  • Lift five-gallon cans during sampling and blending processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of work to support process transfer, scale-up, and intellectual property protection.
  • Demonstrate independence, responsibility, reliability, and accountability in experiments.
  • Work effectively under multiple deadlines and conduct lab work over weekends and holidays as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of specialty chemicals relevant to renewable fuels.
  • Experience in petrochemical testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with chemical safety protocols.
  • Understanding of bio and polymeric materials used in fuel development.
  • Knowledge of petrochemical processing techniques.
  • Basic understanding of biomechanics related to chemical processes.
  • Strong research skills in a laboratory environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience with blending, heated filtration, rotavap, sieving, grinding, and titration.
  • Ability to repair and modify laboratory equipment.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field, or equivalent work experience in an industrial research setting.
