Job summary

Daily Mail US is seeking an experienced Opinion Editor to lead and grow the US opinion offering. This hands-on role requires strong news judgment, commissioning and editing skills, and a deep understanding of American politics and culture.

You will shape a distinctive commentary agenda, respond quickly to national conversations, and build a network of contributors while driving engagement and subscription growth. This is an in-office role based in New York City.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in journalism, editing, or commentary.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with strong news judgment.
• Ability to juggle multiple deadlines and contributors under pressure.
• Comfortable working with analytics tools and audience data to guide editorial decisions.

Responsibilities

• Commission and edit timely, bold opinion pieces from diverse contributors.
• Identify and respond to breaking news with sharp commentary.
• Maintain Daily Mail US voice, clarity and impact.
• Build and manage a network of regular contributors and columnists.
• Maximize reader engagement and drive subscriptions.
• Develop newsletters and audio formats informed by audience data.
• Collaborate with editors across the newsroom to feature opinions prominently.
• Monitor analytics and reader engagement to inform strategy.
