Job summary

Stella Jones Corporation is seeking a Logistics Manager to direct and coordinate transportation operations to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel. This role may supervise staff and collaborate with drivers and yard coordinators to maintain high service levels and safety.

The position covers managing third-party carrier relationships, negotiating rates, monitoring safety compliance, and supporting business development through logistics improvements and capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Ensures transportation availability for all logistical needs.
• Transportation emergency storm response lead.
• Manages all freight claims as it relates to truck transportation.
• Reviews 3rd party performance, carrier sourcing, and performance optimization.
• Participates in business development strategies, capital projects and special projects.
• Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations and contract compliance.
• Contributes to company transportaions decisions; exploits cost-saving opportunities for logistics.
• Negotiates and publishes transporation rates of 3rd party truck.
• Develop, implement and monitor 3rd party carrier rates, DOT and safety, service level compliance.
• Develops a close working relationship with all carriers and has a thorough knowledge of their operations including strengths and weaknesses.
• Initiates contact with the Yard Coordinators & drivers on a regular basis to optimize customer service levels and safety
• Service level tracking
• Participates and contributes to company safety program.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Management duties included supervision of exempt and/or non-exempt staff. This includes but is not limited to, conducting performance evaluations and improvement plans, approving paid time-off (PTO), assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving guidance to staff, taking disciplinary action, and interviewing candidates for open positions.
