Job Overview:

The Conventional Underwriter reviews, conditions, and underwrites mortgage loans according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines; examining all documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze mortgage loan applications for eligibility, accuracy, completeness, and compliance to minimize risks.
• Review required loan data, reports, and inspections to ensure collateral acceptability.
• Make independent decisions regarding loan acceptance and risk based on HUD, company, and investor guidelines.
• Provide final approval for mortgage loan underwriting.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and timely, including preparing necessary forms.
• Sign off conditions set by management promptly.
• Collaborate with staff and management on escalated loans.
• Suggest improvements for internal audit policies and practices.
• Manage loans using all functions of Encompass.
• Communicate underwriting decisions effectively with processors and advisors.
• Maintain high customer service standards and communication with other departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
