Job description

Job Title: Machine Operator Summary

Job Responsibilities

Client is currently seeking a Machine Operator for 3rd shift. This position is based at our Kearney, NE location. The primary function of the Machine Operator is to set up, operate, and tend a bank of machines to produce high-quality parts that meet specifications. They will also adjust equipment controls to regulate the flow of production materials.

In this function, you will:

  1. Follow safety policies and procedures in all daily functions.
  2. Monitor banks of machines, visually checking and gauging parts to ensure machines are running to specifications and free of defects.
  3. Complete paperwork, datalogs, and SPC charts as required to ensure proper dimensions are set on each machine.
  4. Read process sheets to verify aspects of assigned operations, including blueprint dimensions, required tooling, machine parameters, and control plan information.
  5. Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and continually adjust machines, tooling, and wheels to keep parts within allowable tolerances.
  6. Assist in maintenance and changeover of machinery, including replacing worn machine accessories such as cutting tools and grinding wheels.

Position Criteria:

  1. Blueprint reading skills.
  2. Forklift operation.
  3. Ability to set up machinery.
  4. Ability to read process sheets.
  5. Visual inspection of cold and hot parts. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Repetitive motions include bending, twisting, grabbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting with both hands. Must perform all duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
  6. Exposure to graphite lube and heat.
  7. Required to wear safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel or composite shoes throughout shifts.
  8. Position may require daily overtime, working 7 days a week, including holidays.

Physical requirements include: Constant standing and working in extreme heat during summer. Some walking required during changeovers or tooling changes.
