Job summary

HelloFresh in Goodyear, AZ is seeking a hands-on Senior Manager for Reliability (Controls & Conveyance) to lead a multi-site controls team across the NA fulfillment network. You will define technical standards, drive downtime analysis, and guide launches of large automated systems.

You will own budgets, partner with IT and facilities, and help scale up the network while ensuring safety and uptime. A strong background in industrial controls and cross-site leadership is required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in industrial controls, automation, or facility maintenance.
• 5+ years in people leadership.
• Hands-on expertise with PLCs, HMIs, networks, robotics, and motor controls.
• Experience with WMS/WCS/WES integration in high-volume fulfillment or distribution environments.
• Proven record of launching large-scale automated systems.

• Lead, mentor, and scale a multi-site controls and automation team, including hiring and onboarding.
• Set and enforce technical standards for PLC programming, HMI design, networks, motor controls, and robotics.
• Own controls support across U.S. fulfillment sites and expand with network growth.
• Oversee sorters, erectors, AutoStore, robots, and conveyors across sites.
• Partner with operations, facilities, and IT on WMS/WCS/WES integrations.
• Lead root-cause analysis and convert findings into preventive actions.
• Support new site launches and major system installs from design to stabilization.
• Manage budgets, vendor relationships, spare parts, and lifecycle strategy.
• Report reliability, uptime, and performance metrics to senior leadership.

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands‑on Controls/Conveyance Reliability Engineering leader to own controls and conveyance strategy, reliability, and technical standards across our North American fulfillment network. You’ll lead and grow a team of controls system technicians and work/train site maintenance technicians. You’ll drive root‑cause investigations and turn findings into lasting corrective actions. You’ll also support large‑scale system launches and site expansion integration.

You will …

• Own controls support coverage across all U.S. fulfillment sites, and expand it as the network grows
• Oversee all sorters, Case erectors, AutoStore system to include all robots, and conveyor systems across all U.S. fulfillment sites, and expand it as the network grows
• Partner with operations, facilities, and IT on integrations across WMS, WCS, and WES platforms
• Lead root‑cause analysis on downtime and quality events, and convert findings into sustainable corrective and preventive actions
• Support new site launches and major system installs, from design review through commissioning and stabilization
• Manage budgets, vendor relationships, spare‑parts and lifecycle strategy
• Report on reliability, uptime, and performance metrics to senior leadership

You have…

• 10+ years in industrial controls, automation, or facility maintenance, with 5+ years in people leadership
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology preferred, or equivalent experience
• Deep hands‑on expertise with PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, robotics, and motor controls
• Experience with WMS/WCS/WES integration in high‑volume fulfillment or distribution environments
• Proven record of launching large‑scale automated systems
• Strong root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement skills
• Ability to build teams and technical standards across multiple sites
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology preferred
• Experience growing a controls organization across many sites
• Background that progressed from facilities or maintenance into engineering leadership
• Familiarity with major automation OEMs and integrators

Additional Requirements

• Ability to travel regularly (approximately 25–40% of the time)
• Availability and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and/or nights as operational needs require
• Comfortable working in cold warehouse environments, including facility areas maintained at 40°F
