Job summary

HelloFresh is seeking a hands-on Senior Manager, Reliability (Controls & Conveyance) to own reliability across our North American fulfillment network. You will lead a growing controls team, set engineering standards, and coordinate with operations, IT, and facilities to improve uptime and performance.

You will drive root-cause analyses, manage system launches, and oversee conveyors, sorters, and automation across multiple sites, ensuring scalable, safe, and cost-effective operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in industrial controls, automation, or facility maintenance.
• 5+ years in people leadership and team scaling.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, networks, robotics, and motor controls.
• Experience integrating WMS/WCS/WES in high-volume settings.
• Proven record launching large-scale automated systems.

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Controls/Conveyance Reliability Engineering leader to own controls and conveyance strategy, reliability, and technical standards across our North American fulfillment network. You'll lead and grow a team of controls system technicians and work/train site maintenance technicians. You'll drive root-cause investigations and turn findings into lasting corrective actions. You'll also support large-scale system launches and site expansion integration.

You will …

• Lead, mentor, and scale a multi-site controls and automation team, including hiring, onboarding, and career development
• Set and enforce technical standards for PLC programming, HMI design, industrial networks, motor controls, and robotics
• Own controls support coverage across all U.S. fulfillment sites, and expand it as the network grows
• Oversee all sorters, Case erectors, AutoStore system to include all robots, and conveyor systems across all U.S. fulfillment sites, and expand it as the network grows
• Partner with operations, facilities, and IT on integrations across WMS, WCS, and WES platforms
• Lead root-cause analysis on downtime and quality events, and convert findings into sustainable corrective and preventive actions
• Support new site launches and major system installs, from design review through commissioning and stabilization
• Manage budgets, vendor relationships, spare-parts and lifecycle strategy
• Report on reliability, uptime, and performance metrics to senior leadership

You have...

• 10+ years in industrial controls, automation, or facility maintenance, with 5+ years in people leadership
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology preferred, or equivalent experience
• Deep hands‑on expertise with PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, robotics, and motor controls
• Experience with WMS/WCS/WES integration in high‑volume fulfillment or distribution environments
• Proven record of launching large‑scale automated systems
• Strong root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement skills
• Ability to build teams and technical standards across multiple sites
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology preferred
• Experience growing a controls organization across many sites
• Background that progressed from facilities or maintenance into engineering leadership
• Familiarity with major automation OEMs and integrators

Additional Requirements

• Ability to travel regularly (approximately 25–40% of the time)
• Availability and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and/or nights as operational needs require
• Comfortable working in cold warehouse environments, including facility areas maintained at 40°F
