Google DeepMind in the US is seeking a senior policy professional to lead and scale frontier AI policy advocacy across federal and state jurisdictions. You will serve as the internal policy point of contact and coordinate external engagement with government bodies, translating complex AI research into actionable policy recommendations.

The role demands deep experience in public policy, legislation analysis, and effective communication with policymakers, executives, and research teams.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience in US technology public policy, legislative affairs, or regulatory policy at the federal or state level.
• Experience in frontier AI safety, security, and governance issues (such as frontier safety frameworks, model evaluations, red-teaming, compute governance, and alignment).
• Experience analyzing and redlining legislation or regulation, drafting statutory language and policy position papers, and supporting legislative testimony or government briefings.

• Serve as a primary policy POC internally across Google on US Frontier AI Policy issues, coordinating external engagement with US federal bodies and priority state legislatures.
• Drive statutory analysis, legislative redlines, testimony preparation, and technical briefings across high-velocity US state and federal AI bills.
• Execute proactive policy campaigns that translate frontier safety research into actionable policy recommendations.
• Support internal AI business units within Google across policy areas of interest.

• 10 years of experience in US technology public policy, legislative affairs, or regulatory policy at the federal or state level, including experience with Congress, federal agencies, and state legislatures regarding emerging technology regulation.


• Experience in frontier AI safety, security, and governance issues (such as frontier safety frameworks, model evaluations, red-teaming, compute governance, and alignment).


• Experience analyzing and redlining legislation or regulation, drafting statutory language and policy position papers, and supporting legislative testimony or government briefings.

Preferred qualifications:

• Established relationships with, or demonstrated ability to engage credibly with, senior staff across US Congressional committees, federal executive agencies, state legislative offices, industry coalitions, and policy think tanks.


• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical AI research concepts for federal and state policymakers and translate legislative realities back to technical research teams.


• Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced, matrixed environment that bridges frontier AI research (DeepMind) and frontline government affairs (GAPP).
