Job Summary And Responsibilities
- Evaluate surgeon requests for new instruments with the OR RN Clinical Coordinator.
- Coordinate with the OR RN Clinical Coordinator, Sterile Processing manager, vendors, and surgeon offices for specific surgical case needs.
- Inventory specialty items, manage checkout dates on products, and consult product representatives about costs and requested products; periodically review specialty case cart supplies, custom packs, etc., to determine cost effectiveness.
- Work with the OR RN Clinical Coordinator and Billing & Documentation specialist on preference cards and preference card changes.
- Act as a preceptor for all new staff members.
- Provide input in the hiring process.
- Serve as a resource for the OR RN Clinical Coordinator regarding changes and management of equipment, personal preference cards, or staffing issues.
- Identify educational needs for the team and surgeons and facilitate, in conjunction with the Clinical Educator, in-services for new equipment or instruments and staff orientation.
- Be knowledgeable of surgical standards, policies, and procedures related to the Surgical Technician role and ensure team members follow them appropriately.
- Take “call” as assigned and scrub for specialty procedures as well as other OR procedures.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of Surgical Technology training at an accredited school or completion of the Surgical Tech On the Job training orientation program.
- Minimum of 2 years in an acute surgical setting or GI clinical setting.
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and associated care; knowledge of surgical supplies and equipment; knowledge of medical and surgical asepsis and infection control principles.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission standards, ability to work with different levels of education and backgrounds, and demonstrate effective oral and written communication and time management skills.

Pay Range
$27.97 - $41.60 /hour
