Urologist Opportunity Wilkes-Barre, PA VAMC Up to 55 Days off Annually

The Wilkes-Barre, PA VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time, board-certified/board-eligible Urologist to join our team. Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing urology consultations for inpatients and outpatients.
  2. Evaluating and treating urology emergencies across the Emergency Department, outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, ICU, and operating room.
  3. Performing a full range of inpatient and outpatient urology procedures.
  4. Facilitating patient access to care through appropriate referrals in accordance with policies and regulations.
  5. Admitting, evaluating, and treating surgical or medical patients with genitourinary illnesses or injuries.
  6. Assessing patient status before surgery, documenting findings accurately in medical records.
  7. Performing minor and major surgical procedures as needed.
  8. Providing patients with information on risks, benefits, and alternatives, and securing informed consent.
  9. Conducting postoperative follow-up, patient education, and wound care upon discharge.
  10. Performing emergency surgical procedures when necessary.
  11. Completing all required electronic documentation promptly.
  12. Participating in surgical quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens J-1 and H-1B may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA policy).
  • Full unrestricted licensure, certification, or registration in any U.S. state.
  • Board certified or eligible in Urology.

Office Hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. On-call as needed.
