Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing seeks a 50%–100% Staff Nurse to circulate in the Urology OR Procedure Suites. Assess, plan and deliver nursing care with leadership to the team. 50–100% time with 10-hour shifts, Mon-Fri, no weekends.

The role emphasizes applying nursing theory, coordinating care, and collaborating with families, with ongoing opportunities for clinic procedure cross-training.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice in Iowa by hire date.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills with patients, families and staff.
• General computer skills required.
• ACLS must be completed within a year.

Responsibilities

• Apply nursing theory to assess, diagnose, treat and evaluate patient responses.
• Coordinate continuum of care across settings with the team.
• Develop care plans based on patient condition and sociodemographic factors.
• Implement plans and document patient/family responses.
• Collaborate with patients and families in the care plan.
• Coordinate transfer/discharge planning through episodes of care.
• Follow department policies to maintain a safe environment.
• Cross-train to assist with clinic procedures.
• Pre-operative check-in, IV starts and lab draws.
• Circulator/scrub for endoscopic urology under MAC or GA.
