Job summary

VA Fargo Healthcare System is recruiting a full-time Advanced Practice Nurse-Urology to serve as an NP extender to the supervising Urologist. The role emphasizes patient care within a Whole Health System, with responsibilities across history-taking, examinations, diagnostics, rounds, education, and discharge planning.

The NP will document in the EMR, participate in performance improvement, and support staff training, ensuring high-quality care for Veterans within a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and follow-up history and physical examinations
• Order diagnostic tests and consultations
• Accompany Urologist on daily rounds of inpatients
• Write discharge orders under the direction of the Urologist
• Provide education and counseling to patients and families
• Perform urology treatment
• Enter accurate, complete, timely progress notes for each episode of care in the patient's EMR
• Maintain proper use, maintenance and calibration of specialized equipment
• Adhere to safety, health, infection control, ergonomic standards
• Assist in orientation of new staff and provide patient education including informed consent
• Maintain supplies, equipment and clinical areas to optimize safety and efficiency
• Demonstrate knowledge and standards in the use and reprocessing of Reusable Medical Equipment (RME)
• Participate in performance improvement activities, disaster preparedness and administrative duties
