Qualifications

• Physician Assistant license required.
• PA-C certification (NCCPA) required.
• Registered Nurse license required in practicing state.
• Nurse Practitioner certification (ANCC or AANP) required.
• DEA registration required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required with possible 6-month window.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages acute, critical and chronic illnesses in inpatient hospital settings.
• Obtains histories, conducts exams and determines differential diagnoses.
• Prescribes medications, therapies and treatments.
• Interprets data and orders/ interprets diagnostic studies as needed.
• Provides care coordination and discharge planning.
• Directs nursing staff and ensures patient care standards are met.
• Maintains patient care plans and records according to guidelines.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care across life span.
