Job summary

WakeMed Urology seeks a Medical Lab Scientist to perform routine and specialized laboratory testing, supporting diagnosis and treatment within a collaborative practice. You will evaluate and document test results, adhere to procedures, and maintain equipment with quality control practices.

As a team member, you will assist with inventory, regulatory compliance, and training of new staff and students, contributing to safe, efficient laboratory operations in a high-quality care environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Experience with urine microscopy and post-vasectomy sperm count analysis preferred.
• Detail-oriented with ability to exercise independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing to support the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care of patients within the WakeMed Urology practice.
• Accurately evaluate, document, and report patient test results while utilizing sound clinical judgment and adhering to established laboratory procedures.
• Operate, maintain, and perform quality control on laboratory equipment, instruments, and systems to ensure reliable and accurate testing outcomes.
• Maintain laboratory readiness by supporting inventory management, equipment maintenance, regulatory compliance, and safe laboratory practices.
• Collaborate with providers and teammates while assisting with the training and onboarding of new employees and students, serving as a knowledgeable resource within the laboratory.
