Job summary

Abide Home Care is seeking a PCA/Caregiver to provide compassionate, one-on-one home care in the Richmond Hill area. You will assist with daily living activities, mobility, meals, medications, and light housekeeping, ensuring safety and comfort for clients.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, reliable transportation, and willingness to work varied shifts including nights/weekends. Hoyer Lift experience is preferred, with competitive starting pay based on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; caregiver or CNA experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds and bear up to 50 pounds, bend and kneel.
• Reliable transportation daily; valid driver’s license preferred.
• Willingness to work nights and/or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene assistance (showering, dressing, eating).
• Assist with ambulation and mobility around the home.
• Plan and prepare meals for clients.
• Remind clients to take prescribed medications.
• Complete shopping or accompany clients to shops.
• Perform housekeeping duties as needed.
• Report incidents and respond quickly in emergencies.
• Support activities essential for daily living.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene assistance for elderly patients or those recovering from surgeries, injuries, or accidents by attending to their basic needs, such as showering, bathing, dressing and eating
• Help with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks etc.)
• Plan and prepare meals
• Remind clients to take prescribed medication
• Complete client’s shopping or accompany them to successfully do so
• Perform housekeeping duties
• Report any unusual incidents and act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
• Offer assistance with activities that are essential for daily living

Qualifications

• Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting, eager to improve and continuously learn new skills
• Ability to act in a compassionate and supportive manner
• Take pride in providing high quality care
• Willingness to enforce health and safety standards
• Prior experience in a healthcare, hospitality, or in-home care environment is beneficial
• Reliable transportation every single day, valid driver’s license is preferred
• Available to work different shifts, including nights and/or weekends
