Job description

Key job responsibilities
  1. Plan, layout, construct, maintain, alter, and repair complicated multi-station progressive, single purpose blanking, piercing and forming dies, as well as a variety of drills, holding and clamping fixtures.
  2. Design dies and make or direct the making of detailed drawings.
  3. Work from drawings, sketches, samples, written and verbal instructions.
  4. Visualize finished job, make necessary mathematical calculations, select allowances for fitting and finishing.
  5. Plan, layout, and perform intricate machining operations on tool room equipment involving exacting setups and adjustments to maintain very close tolerances. Experience with CNC equipment is beneficial.
  6. Determine repairs required on dies returned to the tool room.
  7. Perform emergency repairs to dies in the press department.
  8. Perform die grinding, shimming, and replacement of die components.
  9. Create repair parts or machined items for special orders.
  10. Test dies in the tool room press, suggest improvements, observe operation in production, and diagnose issues.
  11. Prepare complex print programs using advanced math or computer programming languages.
  12. Instruct and assist other employees, and help set up plant equipment as needed.
  13. Report faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to the supervisor.
  14. Follow safety rules and keep the work area clean and organized.

Compensation: Up to $40.00/hr

Hiring Bonus: $2500.00

Qualifications and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Journeyman's card or equivalent experience in the tool and die trade (minimum 3 years).
  • Wire EDM experience preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and decision-making ability.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and efficient with minimal supervision.
  • Heavy lifting (35 lbs) required; lift truck experience preferred.
  • Good communication skills and teamwork ability.
