Responsibilities

• Own the functional definition of assigned vehicle features.
• Translate vehicle and customer expectations into functional and system requirements.
• Define expected system behavior, operating conditions, performance, and constraints.
• Develop and maintain requirements in accordance with automotive systems engineering processes.
• Decompose high-level vehicle functions into detailed system requirements.
• Analyze changes to features and determine impacts on existing requirements.
• Review requirements for completeness, consistency, clarity, and verifiability.
• Establish and maintain requirements traceability.
• Work with Software, Hardware, Systems, Architecture, and Validation teams to resolve requirement issues.
• Investigate system and software validation issues and determine if updates are required.
• Participate in technical and requirements reviews.
• Support engineering change requests and assess downstream system impacts.
• Identify technical risks, requirement gaps, and functional conflicts.
• Provide technical clarification regarding feature intent and expected vehicle behavior.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Vehicle Function Owner / Requirements Engineer to define and manage vehicle functional requirements from feature concept through development and validation.

This position is ideal for a Systems Engineer, Vehicle Function Owner, Vehicle Feature Owner, or Requirements Engineer with experience in automotive product development and requirements management.

The engineer will be responsible for understanding vehicle functionality, defining system requirements, evaluating requirement changes, and working with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure the intended vehicle behavior is correctly implemented and validated.

Required Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Vehicle Function Owner (VFO) or Vehicle Feature Owner experience.
• Experience with SYS.1 / SYS.2 requirements processes.
• Exposure to SWE.9 / software-level requirements and integration.
• Automotive SPICE knowledge.
• INCOSE or formal Systems Engineering experience.
• Experience with vehicle architecture and system interfaces.Experience with system/software validation and issue investigation.
• Experience in one or more automotive domains such as:

Ideal Candidate
