About The Opportunity

A well-established veterinary urgent care organization provides walk-in and same-day urgent veterinary care for dogs and cats, focusing on non-life-threatening but time-sensitive conditions. The team includes experienced veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff who work collaboratively to provide efficient, compassionate care. Role Description

The Urgent Care Veterinarian is a full-time, on-site position. This role involves examining patients, diagnosing urgent medical conditions, and providing treatments such as wound care, pain management, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory testing.

The veterinarian will develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and communicate clearly with pet families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care.

Day-to-day Responsibilities Include
  • Examining and evaluating dogs and cats presenting with urgent medical conditions.
  • Diagnosing and treating non-life-threatening but time-sensitive conditions.
  • Performing common urgent-care procedures and treatments.
  • Providing wound care and pain management.
  • Utilizing diagnostic imaging and laboratory testing.
  • Developing individualized treatment plans and prescribing medications.
  • Communicating diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up recommendations to pet families.
  • Collaborating closely with veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff.
  • Prioritizing cases according to medical urgency.
  • Maintaining high standards of patient safety and infection control.
  • Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records.
  • Following established clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contributing to a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace environment.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Eligibility for veterinary licensure in the applicable state.
  • Experience or strong interest in urgent care, emergency medicine, or general small-animal practice.
  • Competency in physical examinations, diagnostics, and common urgent-care procedures.
  • Strong client communication skills, including the ability to explain complex medical information clearly and discuss treatment options empathetically.
  • Ability to work effectively with veterinary technicians and support staff.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and respectful collaboration.
  • Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to make timely decisions in a fast-paced, walk-in care environment.
  • Commitment to accurate medical record-keeping and patient safety.
