Job summary

COVE Animal Health in Middletown, CT is seeking an experienced Urgent Care Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in a fast-paced setting. This role focuses on patient care, diagnostics, and client communication.

Responsibilities include assisting with examinations, restraining animals, collecting histories, preparing treatment areas, and maintaining a clean workflow while providing compassionate care. Weekend rotation is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Veterinary Assistant experience.
• Prior Urgent Care or Emergency Veterinary experience is a must.
• Experience safely handling and restraining animals.
• Experience supporting veterinarians with treatments and procedures.
• Strong understanding of veterinary medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Safely restrain patients and support handling needs.
• Obtain patient histories and assist with assessments.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after treatments.
• Support recovering and hospitalized patients as directed.
• Assist with diagnostic testing and sample collection.
• Prepare treatment areas and maintain a clean workspace.
• Restock supplies and maintain readiness.
• Communicate professionally with clients and team members.
• Help ensure efficient patient flow in Urgent Care.
