Job summary

FMOL Health is seeking an Urgent Care Technician to support clinicians in a fast-paced urgent care setting. You will greet patients, perform triage, document vital signs, and assist with examinations and procedures under provider guidance.

Responsibilities include handling EMR documentation, point-of-care testing, room turnover, and basic administrative tasks to ensure smooth patient flow and accuracy of records.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of clinical experience with intake/triage.
  • BLS certification required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients promptly; obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints.
  • Perform triage/check-in assessment and discharge, CLIA waived point of care testing, wound care, splinting application and other treatments ordered by the provider.
  • Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.
  • Perform clinical tasks such as wound care, splinting, EKGs, and specimen collection (as permitted by training and state regulations).
  • Prepare exam rooms, maintain supplies, and ensure proper cleaning and infection control standards.
  • Maintain all clinical documentation including quality control and compliance logs required by company policy and applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., urinalysis, rapid strep, flu, COVID tests).
  • Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Provide patient education and discharge instructions under provider guidance.
  • Assist nurse and provider on duty at all times during a shift, including unpacking supplies and maintaining the clinic's aesthetics; clean instruments; restock rooms.
  • Assist in front office tasks as needed, including patient flow coordination and communication.
  • Follow scripting provided for patient interactions and direct calls appropriately.
  • Collect insurance card and ID, verify insurance, and collect patient information for scheduling.
  • Enter admitting information into the computer and add patient to the schedule.
  • Receive payment on account and perform necessary accounting duties per department procedures.

The Urgent Care Technician supports clinical providers by delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced urgent care setting. This role involves direct patient interaction, clinical support duties, and administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient flow and a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

Clean instruments and equipment per company guidelines, maintain stock in all exam rooms before, during, and after each shift. Assist in turning over exam rooms, procedure rooms, and treatment rooms immediately after a patient is discharged from that room. Assist non‑ambulatory patients to and from the building.
  • Assist with front office tasks as needed, including patient flow coordination and communication.
  • Follow all scripting provided for patient interactions.
  • Receive incoming telephone calls with provided scripting, exercise judgment to prioritize calls, and courteously direct calls to the appropriate personnel in a prudent and efficient manner.
  • Greets patients in a friendly manner and collects insurance card and identification. Communicate with patient that their insurance is being verified. Respectfully ask the patient to fill out the patient information form to obtain and record name, address, age, persons to notify in case of emergency, attending physician, pharmacy, and individual or insurance company responsible for payment of bill.
  • Enter patient admitting information into computer and add patient to clinic schedule.
  • Receive payment on account and perform necessary accounting duties in accordance with the standard procedures of the department.
