Job summary

UCHealth in Loveland, CO, seeks an on-site urgent care team member to provide emergent/urgent patient care under physician or RN direction. The role supports patient flow, prepares patients for exams, and assists with procedures such as Foley catheter insertions and venipuncture.

The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED and BLS certification. IV proficiency within 6 months is required; credentials may include CMA, RMA, EMT/EMT-I, Paramedic or LPN.

Qualifications

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
  • IV proficiency within 6 months per department guidelines.
  • One of the following credentials: CMA, RMA, EMT/EMT-I, Paramedic or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Minimum Experience: None.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate flow of patients in the department to optimize throughput and keep patients informed of delays.
  • Observe patients and notify the provider or RN if a patient is in distress.
  • Prepare patients for examination and assist during and after the examination.
  • Insert Foley catheters and perform complex splinting; perform venipuncture as needed.
  • Maintain exam and treatment rooms; clean equipment; ensure supply levels are stocked; order supplies as directed.

Work Schedule: Full Time, 68.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Shift: Days

Pay: $21.49 - $27.94 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

Summary

Provides emergent/urgent patient care under the direction of a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner and/or registered nurse.

Responsibilities

Coordinates flow of patients in the department to optimize throughput; keeps patients apprised of delays.

Observes patients and notifies the provider and/or RN immediately if patient appears in distress. Prepares patients to see the provider; assists prior to, during, and following examination.

Inserts Foley catheters, performs complex splinting, and performs venipuncture for the purpose of drawing blood or inserting a saline lock.

Maintains exam and treatment rooms and other areas. Cleans equipment following established guidelines. Ensures that established standard supply levels are maintained; orders supplies as directed.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements

  • Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or GED.

Required Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. IV proficiency per department guidelines within 6 months and is tracked at the department level. One of the following credentials: CMA; RMA; State licensure as EMT, EMT-I, or Paramedic; completion of military medic course (no renewal required); Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Minimum Experience: None required.

  • BLS - BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All renewals must be issued by the American Heart Association.
