Overview
Physicians independently perform a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions and selecting/performing appropriate diagnostics and therapeutic procedures. This role requires clinic-based urgent care or emergency medicine experience and board eligibility or certification in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine.
Job Summary
Physicians independently perform a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections and are also responsible for selecting and utilizing appropriate diagnostics and/or therapeutic procedures for patients.
Responsibilities
- Examining and treating patients
- Taking patients’ medical histories
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
- Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
- Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
- Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
- Educating and counseling patients
- Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
- Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
- Supervising GoHealth PA/NPs remotely when cases are presented to you for supervision
- Act as a Collaborating Physician for up to four PA/NPs in the credentialing process, including signoff of the PA/NPs delineation of privileges
- Each provider will work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited medical school
- 2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience required
- Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting required
- Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by an ABMS member board or AOA specialty board in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine
- Active state medical licensure
- Experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine setting; suturing, splinting, etc. are applicable
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records is preferred
- Strong listening, communication, and customer service skills
