Job summary

MercyCare in Iowa is seeking an Urgent Care Physician to join our community-based team across MercyCare North, Marion UC, South, and North Liberty UC. This full-time role supports patient-centered care by providing professional medical services in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

You will obtain medical histories, perform exams, order tests and procedures, prescribe treatments, coordinate referrals, and maintain complete records.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.
• Timely and professional execution of duties.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional medical services to MercyCare patients.
• Obtains and records detailed medical histories.
• Performs or orders clinically appropriate procedures and documents results.
• Analyzes test results and formulates diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Prescribes medications and documents therapy.
• Refers patients to specialists when warranted and documents referrals.
• Maintains accurate medical records per Mercy policies.
• Reports births, deaths, outbreaks, and other required information.
• Engages in evidence-based clinical practice and quality improvement.
• Exhibits professional medical judgment in all patient care decisions.
• Participates in continuing education and team-based care initiatives.
• Oversees mid-level staff if applicable and assists with inquiries from patients.
