Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work under the Medical Director, performing exams, treatments, and patient management in a fast-paced setting. The role involves diagnostics, procedures, and guiding care pathways across the clinic and health system.

The ideal candidate holds an MS in Nursing, PA or NP degree, Virginia license or eligibility, and BLS CPR. Preference is given to those with 2+ years in Urgent Care or Emergency Department settings.

Qualifications

• Master of Science in Nursing is required.
• RN license to practice in Virginia or eligible.
• Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies required.
• Virginia license as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant or eligible required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Proficient leadership skills.
• Preferred: minimum of two years of PA experience in Urgent Care Clinic or ER.

Responsibilities

• Performs exams and treatments for minor acute illness and initial assessment.
• Orders/interprets diagnostic tests (x-ray, ECG, labs).
• Administers injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care.
• Counsels patients on therapies and wellness.
• Develops patient management plans and records progress notes.
• May supervise ancillary staff.
• Prescribes medications and makes referrals as appropriate.
• Coordinates services with other departments and responds to emergencies.
