Job summary

Carbon Health in Santa Monica is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform patient care, take vitals, collect history, and triage with speed and empathy.

You will assist with procedures, administer medications, run tests like EKGs and urinalysis, and help manage front-desk duties. DOT certification training is provided where required; prior phlebotomy experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or equivalent experience.
• Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required where law allows exemption.
• Current BLS certification; willingness to obtain DOT certification.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred and helpful.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals, collect patient history, and perform triage at point of care.
• Assist with incision, drainage, laceration repair and wound care as needed.
• Administer injections and run basic tests (EKG, urinalysis, glucose, rapid tests).
• Manage front desk duties and support reception during busy periods.
• Complete training toward DOT urine drug screens and Breath Alcohol Tests.

Job description

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Perform patient care by taking vitals, patient history and triaging


• Assist with procedures such as incision and drainage, lacerations and wound care


• Administer medications via intradermal, intramuscular and subcutaneous routes, carry out ear lavages and run EKGs


• Conduct lab testing such as urinalysis, urine pregnancy test, blood glucose testing, monospot, rapid strep and influenza testing, rapid hiv testing


• Manage the front desk and perform receptionist duties as needed


• Complete training and become certified with the Department of Transportation to perform Urine Drug Screens and Breath Alcohol Tests

ABOUT YOU

• High school diploma or equivalent


• Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program (except in those locations(s) permitted by law for exemption with experience, diploma and/or national certification)


• Current BLS certification, willingness to obtain DOT certification


• 1+ years experience as a Medical Assistant preferred


• Phlebotomy experience preferred


• Great communication skills

Salary

$19.25/hr - $28.00/hr
