Job summary

Bon Secours is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant – Urgent Care at Swift Creek. The role involves direct and indirect patient care under provider supervision, documenting patient needs, and assisting with examinations and medications per state guidelines.

The position requires completion of a Medical Assistant program and CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NRCMA certifications, with BLS required for certain locations. Travel to other facilities may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
• Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)
• Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)
• ABR‑OE acceptable if MA certification not obtained (not accepted in SC)
• BLS Basic Life Support (required at hire for some locations; preferred prior to independent patient care)

Responsibilities

• Under the provider's direction, complete the patient’s chief complaint and document needs.
• Identify significant changes in patient condition and report to the provider.
• Troubleshoot issues and escalate as needed.
• Maintain standards of care and assist diverse patients and staff.
• Maintain clinical and administrative skills per competency guidelines.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
• Travel to other facilities for providers or adjust hours as needed by the practice manager.
