Job summary

University of Maryland Urgent Care, part of the University of Maryland Medical System, seeks a licensed NP or PA to provide urgent care across the Eastern Shore. You will work in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment with a close-knit team.

You will manage cases from common colds to more complex injuries, maintain high-quality care, and participate in ongoing professional development with APP and physician leadership support.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality urgent care to patients aged 1 year and older.
• Lead clinical care in UM Urgent Care centers and collaborate with medical assistants and radiologic technologists.
• Work 12-hour shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., typically 3–4 shifts per week (roughly 12–14 per month).
• Treat conditions including URIs, sprains, lacerations, employee health physicals, work injuries, and preoperative evaluations.

Job Description

This full-time position covers the Eastern Shore region of Maryland, with equal coverage across our Kent Island, Easton and Denton.

UM Urgent Care providers serve as clinical leaders in our centers-delivering exceptional medical care, fostering outstanding patient experiences, and working collaboratively in a close-knit team environment with medical assistants and radiologic technologists.

We care for patients ages one and older, treating a wide range of conditions including upper respiratory infections, sprains and strains, lacerations requiring sutures, employee health physicals, work-related injuries, and preoperative evaluations.

Providers work 12-hour clinical shifts (8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.), typically 3 to 4 shifts per week, totaling approximately 12-14 shifts per month.

Urgent care is a fast-paced, dynamic environment that offers a broad spectrum of patient presentations, ranging from acute illness to minor injuries.

Qualifications

Candidates must be licensed Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants in good standing with the state of Maryland, or have licensure pending approval.

An active NPI number, DEA registration, and CDS license are required, or the candidate must be in the process of obtaining them.

While not required, prior clinical experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, intensive care, or primary care settings-whether as a provider, nurse, or technician-is strongly preferred.

At the start of employment, we provide side-by-side clinical training shifts to ensure new providers develop the hands-on procedural skills, core clinical knowledge, and EHR proficiency needed for success.

Ongoing support is available at all times, with APP and physician leadership accessible by phone during all operating hours, ensuring providers are never without guidance when needed.

Compensation

Pay Range: $57.00 - $80.84
