Job summary

Florida-Orthopaedic-Institute in Gainesville, FL, seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) for our Urgent Care team. The APP will assess, treat, and manage acute orthopaedic injuries, order tests, and coordinate with physicians to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced setting.

The position is full-time and on-site, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with potential for additional shifts. Florida license, NCCPA/APRN certs, BLS/ACLS required, orthopedic experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA or APRN program.
• Florida PA/NP license and NCCPA/APRN certification.
• 3+ years in emergency medicine, trauma, urgent care; orthopedic exp preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• Self-starter with strong organization and communication.
• Local candidates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Obtain detailed histories and perform physical exams with direct patient care in Urgent Care.
• Evaluate and treat acute orthopaedic injuries within scope of practice.
• Order/interpret diagnostic studies (X-rays, labs) as indicated.
• Develop treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
• Apply/remove casts, splints, braces, and immobilization devices.
• Prescribe medications per laws and coordinate escalation to ED if needed.
• Document progress notes and coordinate follow-up with FOI staff.
• Provide patient education and ensure safe, efficient care flow.
