University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) invites applications for an IPM Advisor: Commensal Rodents and Urban Wildlife serving Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Mateo/San Francisco Counties at the Assistant rank. The advisor will develop a multi-county applied research and extension program addressing rodent and urban wildlife management in Bay Area.

Area IPM Advisor will focus on applied research, extension, and training for pest management professionals,

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in wildlife management, pest management, applied vertebrate ecology, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to address sensitive human-wildlife conflict situations both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in wildlife management involving rodents or other animals that cause human-wildlife conflicts.
  • Experience in conducting applied, impact-oriented research on topics relevant to this position.
  • Willingness to travel and be onsite in multiple counties.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an innovative applied research and extension program addressing human-wildlife interactions and vertebrate pest management in urban environments.
  • Coordinate with local public agencies, pest management professionals, and UC ANR programs to implement IPM practices.
  • Lead train-the-trainer programs and hands-on workshops for urban pest management professionals.
  • Publish research and extension results in UC ANR publications and peer-reviewed journals.
