Qualifications

• Education: master's degree in urban or regional planning, sustainability or environmental studies, public administration, public health, emergency planning, transportation or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• Experience: five (5) years of experience in urban, regional, transportation, environmental, sustainability, or emergency planning work.
• Equivalency: bachelor's degree and six years of related experience.
• Post graduate education may substitute for two years of experience.
• Some positions may require a Maryland Class C driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee city, environmental or emergency planning projects.
• Supervise emergency planning and other city-planning personnel.
• Prepare detailed urban or emergency plans and designs and write comprehensive reports.
• Work with others and communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Administrative and supervisory duties as required.
