Job summary

The City of Webster seeks an experienced Planner who is service-oriented, a strategic thinker, and a problem solver. The Planner will provide professional planning and technical services related to planning, zoning, subdivision regulations, and general development.

Under the Director of Community Development, you’ll coordinate commissions and present to boards, commissions, and City Council. Key duties include responding to citizen inquiries, maintaining industry knowledge, and interfacing with

Qualifications

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret maps, plats, site plans, and legal documents.
• Respond to inquiries from citizens, regulatory agencies, or developers.
• Present information to management, public groups, boards, commissions, and City Council.
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
• Interpret diverse technical instructions and apply urban/regional planning principles.
• Maintain professional certifications and stay current in the field.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Planning and Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustments.
• Deliver urban and regional planning presentations to boards and City Council.
• Respond to citizens’ inquiries and interface with cities, realtors, developers, and engineers.
• Support city-wide projects and collaborate with other departments.
• Routinely interact with architects and planning professionals.
