Job summary

AHBL, a multi‑discipline firm, is seeking an Urban Planner for our Seattle office. You will work on current and long‑range planning projects for public and private clients across Washington and the west coast, performing professional planning services in a collaborative team setting.

The role involves research, writing, maps/graphics, and public engagement, with interaction across city, county, and state staff and citizens. A minimum 3–5 years of experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in planning, landscape architecture, or an equivalent field.
• 3–5 years of professional planning experience.
• Knowledge of planning principles and techniques.
• Understanding of land use controls (zoning, subdivision, landscape codes).
• Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills and an interest in public engagement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive plans, subarea plans, and development regulations.
• Prepare parks, recreation, and open space plans and environmental review documents (SEPA/NEPA).
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to design and entitle projects.
• Engage with AHBL clients, city, county, and state staff, and public groups.
