Job summary

VHB’s Atlanta, GA office is seeking a Transportation Planning Intern for Summer 2027 on the Transportation Systems team. You’ll support a range of planning activities—urban and community planning, multimodal mobility, active transportation, transit, land use, data visualization, spatial analysis, and public engagement.

This role is ideal for curious students who want to shape connected, equitable communities and work with GIS, data, design and public input alongside a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Interested in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning or related field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct planning assessments using GIS tools to evaluate data and summarize results.
• Assist with development of materials for public involvement programs and attend meetings as needed.
• Support documentation for transportation studies, grants, and multi-modal projects.
• Possibly perform field visits and on-site project support activities.
• Work in person at the Atlanta office at least four days per week during core hours.
