Job summary

Uncommon Schools in Brooklyn, NY seeks a Middle School Special Education Teacher to deliver inclusive instruction and manage IEPs within a collaborative K-12 network. The role focuses on supporting students with special needs through individualized planning and strong family partnerships.

You will work with general education staff, provide varied instructional modalities, and participate in ongoing professional development to improve student outcomes while upholding NY certification eligibility

Responsibilities

• Modify and differentiate an inclusive curriculum that emphasizes diversity.
• Collaborate with families and Special Education teams to develop 504 plans and IEPs with appropriate accommodations.
• Create an inclusive and safe environment where students feel empowered to become self-guided learners.
• Analyze student work samples and assessments to respond to trends and ensure IEP compliance.
• Manage a caseload of IEPs, including data collection and IEP meetings.
• Deliver pull-out, push-in, small group, and one-on-one instruction with differentiated strategies.
• Participate in weekly school-wide meetings to promote a positive school culture and shared goals.
