Job summary

International Rescue Committee in the United States seeks a Farm Coordinator to manage day-to-day operations of New Roots farm sites, support the Urban Farm and Community Gardening Program, and coordinate farmer activities, training, and resources.

You will oversee equipment, irrigation, and safety, deliver technical assistance, and track data for grants and reports, while building community partnerships and supporting sustainable farming practices.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in agricultural sciences, agronomy, environmental sciences, agricultural business, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years of agriculture-related experience; experience with diversified vegetable and sustainable/organic production preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain farm vehicles and equipment (tractors, tillers, mowers, trimmers).
  • Strong organization and time-management skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English; bilingual preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook; experience with web-based data systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee farm operations, infrastructure, and safety including equipment, irrigation, and wash stations.
  • Manage aquaponics greenhouse operations and tilapia production.
  • Develop land management plans for soil fertility, inputs, irrigation, and composting.
  • Coordinate farm planning with New Roots staff and participating farmers.
  • Deliver training on sustainable agriculture, soil health, pest management, and food safety.
  • Monitor farm and aquaponics data for grant reporting and program evaluation.
  • Represent New Roots in community events and partnerships.
