Job summary

Fitchburg State University is seeking dynamic Mentors, Tutors, and Chaperones for the Upward Bound program. The part-time, student-only role involves tutoring and supervising local high school students in an educational pre-college setting.

Responsibilities include leading workshops, supporting staff, and mentoring first-generation students. Evening and Saturday hours are required; CORI and driver verification are required. Pay is $15.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• 30 college credit hours (minimum).
• GPA 2.8 required.
• Experience with youth programs preferred.
• Demonstrates ability to work in a team setting.
• Driver's license strongly encouraged; Saturday shifts may require van driving.
• Must pass CORI and university driver verification.
• Leadership, communication, and tutoring experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with staff to implement and supervise youth programming.
• Support students in academic workshops.
• Tutor and supervise 10–12 students during study sessions.
• Provide mentoring to potentially first-generation college students.
• Maintain order among youth and attend staff meetings.
• Transport youths to activities and field trips in campus vans.
