Job summary

University of Arkansas – Fort Smith is seeking Upward Bound Tutors to conduct group tutoring sessions for high school participants in core subjects. The role reports to the Upward Bound Academic Specialist and requires evening availability.

Minimum qualifications include coursework with a 3.0+ GPA and sophomore standing; strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Tutors may work up to 12 hours per week, primarily Monday–Thursday 4:00 pm–7:00 pm, with some Saturday sessions.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include completed coursework in the subject area with a 3.0+ GPA.
• Sophomore or higher standing at a post-secondary institution.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring to Upward Bound students to aid comprehension.
• Promote academic readiness and good study habits.
• Maintain attendance data and provide tutoring evaluations of student learning.
• Enhance learning concepts and strategies; test preparation; and skill building as needed.
• Subject areas needed: English, history, social sciences, mathematics, science, and Spanish.
