Position Summary:

The High School Math Instructor will be responsible for teaching courses such as Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-calculus/Calculus.

Essential Functions:

1. Conduct integrated academic math classes and teach students learning strategies.
2. Use educational equipment, manipulatives, props, and other learning aids during instruction.
3. Prepare and submit a course outline before classes begin; assist with planning, instruction, and evaluation of tutoring activities.
4. Complete paperwork related to classroom and project management.
5. Make recommendations regarding students' strengths and needs.
6. Report student learning and behavioral issues to appropriate staff.
7. Assist in training and evaluating Teacher Assistants.
8. Attend required training and meetings.
9. Provide 24-hour notice in case of absence; prepare classroom work for substitute instructors if needed.

Additional Functions:

Transport students between class locations safely and on time, ensuring proper supervision.

Prerequisite Qualifications:

1. At least two years of teaching experience at high school or post-secondary levels.
2. Complete a background clearance check.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and conduct a comprehensive instructional tutoring program for Upward Bound students.
4. Undergraduate or graduate degree in the relevant discipline.
5. Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students.
6. Equivalent education and experience may be considered at the university's discretion.

Non-Exempt, Part-Time

Special Instructions for Applicant:

The hourly rate ranges from $40.00 to $50.00 USD. Compensation considers scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, internal equity, market, and organizational factors. This range is base pay only and excludes incentives or bonuses.
