Job summary

Legend Biotech seeks an experienced Scientist for the Upstream Vector Biology team in Philadelphia, focusing on in‑vivo CAR‑T programs. You will own hands‑on execution of lentiviral upstream processes, scale‑up to 40 L, and collaborate closely with Molecular Biology, Downstream, and Technical Development to enable transfer and readiness.

You will design experiments, optimize transfection and media strategies, and ensure data integrity while adhering to biosafety standards in a fast‑paced R&D

Qualifications

• MS with 4+ years or PhD with 1 year of industry experience in bioengineering, virology, or related field.
• Hands-on viral vector production experience.
• Experience with mammalian suspension cell culture and transient transfection.
• Strong molecular biology skills (PCR/qPCR/dPCR) and cell line development.
• Ability to design, run, and troubleshoot complex experiments in fast-paced R&D.
• Experience scaling upstream processes to bioreactor systems (50 L).

Responsibilities

• Define and optimize upstream processes from shake flasks to 40–L bioreactors.
• Execute and optimize lentiviral vector production for in‑vivo CAR‑T applications.
• Improve yield, quality, scalability and robustness through media and feeding strategy.
• Develop fit-for-purpose studies to support scalability and readiness.
• Coordinate cross‑functional tech transfer and collaboration within Vector Biology.
• Deliver data‑driven recommendations and prepare technical reports.
