Job summary

Kiwa PPI in Houston is seeking experienced Upstream Quality Control Specialists to support third‑party inspection activities in the Houston area. The role requires hands‑on inspection of upstream oil and gas equipment including OCTG, wellheads, Drill pipe, mud motors, and related tools.

Assignments may be ad hoc or contract with potential full‑time resident opportunities based on project needs and candidate history. Strong communication and report writing are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of oil and gas industry experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years of third‑party inspection experience.
• Level II NDT certification(s) from a recognized organization or completion of Level II NDT training.
• Strong technical knowledge within one or more upstream product areas (OCTG, Wellheads, Drill pipe, Mud motors, etc.).
• Working knowledge of third‑party inspection processes (NDE/NDT, FAT, assembly inspection, surveillance, testing).
• Familiarity with API, ASNT, ASME, NACE/AMPP, DS‑1 standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including spreadsheets and electronic reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Witness inspections and testing per ITPs, Quality Plans, and customer specs.
• Provide surveillance of manufacturing, testing, assembly, and inspection activities.
• Verify calibration and suitability of inspection, measurement, and test equipment.
• Ensure technician certifications are current and appropriate.
• Witness NDE/NDT, FAT, assembly, dimensional inspection, testing, and final inspection.
• Represent Kiwa PPI with suppliers, communicating schedules and status.
• Identify nonconforming conditions and document findings clearly.
• Generate accurate inspection reports of acceptance, rejection, and activities.
• Maintain effective communication with customers, suppliers, and project personnel.
