Job summary

Pfizer is seeking a Senior Scientist (R4) for the Upstream Process Development group to design and execute bench-scale experiments for robust, scalable bioprocesses supporting early-to-late clinical trials.

You will lead tech transfer to pilot and GMP facilities, document data, and contribute to regulatory submissions while collaborating across teams. The role may involve weekend work and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• PhD with 0-3 years in biotech/biopharma or Master's with 7+ years or BA/BS with 9+ years in relevant fields such as Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Microbiology.
• Experience developing scalable mammalian cell culture processes for therapeutics; process intensification and continuous manufacturing; Scale-up/scale-down of cell culture processes.
• Solid understanding of metabolic pathways and kinetics in mammalian cells.
• Competency in aseptic lab techniques; ability to design complex experiments and analyze data.
• Self-motivated, organized, independent, collaborative; proven ability to drive projects with innovative solutions.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong oral/written communication.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team with shifting priorities.
• Experience communicating with scientists and management in a matrixed organization.
• Passion for innovation and new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments in scale-down models to develop robust, high-yield, scalable processes.
• Lead upstream activities; ensure accurate tech transfer to pilot and GMP manufacturing; provide technical support.
• Timely data documentation in ELN; author technical reports and contribute to IND/BLA sections.
• Participate in lab and project meetings to discuss design of experiments and data interpretation.
• Foster safe, efficient lab environment; be a strong team player.
• Occasionally work weekends to passage flasks or prepare bioreactor samples.
