Join to apply for the Upper School Theatre Teacher role at St. Andrew's Episcopal School

St. Andrew's Episcopal School is seeking an innovative Upper School Theatre Teacher for a full-time, permanent position starting August 2025 at our Southwest Parkway Campus in Austin, Texas. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher in Theatre or a related field, several years of teaching and directing experience, excellent character, a collaborative orientation, and a passion for teaching high school students. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of theatre in various areas, including directing, acting, scenic design, and costume design. Some technical knowledge and experience in choreography are preferred.

This position involves teaching acting and theatre production classes, directing the Upper School fall production, assisting with senior-directed plays in the spring, and directing the winter musical as an extracurricular activity. The role also includes serving as an advisor; prior experience with social-emotional learning curricula and diversity work is ideal. Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities include:
  • Upholding the Mission and Episcopal Identity of the School
  • Acting as an advisor for 8-10 students daily, supporting academic and social-emotional development, and facilitating discussions on inclusion and belonging
  • Attending daily chapel with advisees
  • Supporting students with a “student-first” approach and partnering with families

  • Participating in faculty and department meetings for growth and collaboration
  • Engaging in professional development opportunities
  • Collaborating with other disciplines
  • Serving the community in various capacities as needed
