Main Purpose of the Role:
The Upper School Science Teacher collaborates within the Science Department to inspire students from around the world. Léman Manhattan is an international school that utilizes the International Baccalaureate Programme to prepare students as future leaders. The US Science Teacher is an experienced professional capable of teaching both fundamental and higher-level physics classes, including IB and non-IB courses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exercise good classroom management with fair and consistent standards, using appropriate sanctions clearly communicated to students.
- Encourage students to ask questions and express difficulties.
- Use a wide range of assessment strategies aligned with course content and objectives.
- Provide accurate and constructive reports on student progress, maintaining open communication.
- Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet diverse student needs.
- Identify students requiring additional academic support and refer them appropriately.
- Offer opportunities for student expression through spoken, written, and electronic communication.
- Create a safe learning environment that encourages intellectual risk-taking.
- Utilize learning resources and technology to enhance lessons where suitable.
- Foster student cooperation and tolerance through group work.
- Develop a global mindset and mutual respect within the classroom.
- Help students take responsibility for their actions.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and activities.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of curriculum and instruction relevant to the content area and grade level.
- Monitor student progress and report findings promptly.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and others effectively.
- Complete at least two additional duties assigned by the Division Head, which may vary.
- Participate in staff development, faculty events, meetings, and serve on committees as required.
- Attend school and community functions during and after school hours.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned, such as test proctoring.
Education:
- Master's Degree in Education
- At least 3 years of teaching experience in a high-performing school preferred
Experience:
- Experience interpreting and utilizing multiple data forms to inform instruction
- Knowledge and experience in curriculum development and assessment
- Experience integrating instructional technology
- Excellent written communication, public speaking, and presentation skills
