Job summary

Buckingham Browne & Nichols School seeks a part-time Upper School Robotics Teacher & Program Coordinator to lead and grow the robotics program. The role combines teaching, mentorship, and program leadership with a focus on competitive robotics and interdisciplinary engineering experiences for students.

The position is based in the Upper School, with responsibilities across teaching and leadership of the school’s competitive robotics program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Education Technology, or related field is required.
  • Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) or other competitive robotics programs is required.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching robotics teams is essential.
  • Proficiency in Java or Python and similar robotics programming environments is expected.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as Onshape or SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Fabrication tools like 3D printing, CNC, or laser cutting are advantageous.
  • Strong collaboration, organizational, and communication skills are necessary.
  • Commitment to an inclusive, anti-racist school culture and DEI initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a Robotics Lab and sustainable robotics ecosystem.
  • Plan engaging Robotics, CAD, or digital fabrication electives.
  • Lead the FIRST Robotics Competition program and mentor the team.
  • Supervise student behavior and support academic progress.
  • Mentor student leaders and coordinate mentors/volunteers.
  • Communicate progress with parents and faculty in a professional manner.
  • Build relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Enforce safety standards and maintain student records.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and ongoing program development.
  • Collaborate across departments to integrate robotics across curricula.
