Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

Salisbury Christian School is seeking applicants for potential middle and high school math teaching positions. Candidates should display genuine care for students and the ability to effectively manage a student-centered classroom environment that promotes academic and spiritual growth for middle and high school students. A successful candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, education, or a closely related field; master’s degree and three years of teaching experience preferred. Applicants should be prepared to articulate an active faith in Jesus Christ.

JOB PURPOSE

A teacher at Salisbury Christian School is more than an instructor — they are a disciple-maker who brings their faith into every dimension of classroom life. This role encompasses all aspects of planning, organizing, and implementing an effective instructional program across our PreK–12 learning environment, grounded in a Biblical worldview that shapes curriculum, relationships, and culture. SCS educators guide and encourage students at every stage of development to reach their full academic potential while nurturing their spiritual growth in Christ.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of subject matter and the developmental characteristics of the students they teach;
  • Design and deliver effective instruction using sound pedagogical practices — including clear presentation, purposeful questioning, responsive teaching, and well-structured learning activities;
  • Inspire a love of learning and cultivate genuine, caring relationships with students;
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans that integrate Biblical truth, articulate clear learning objectives, and incorporate varied activities, assessments, and resources;
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources to support proper differentiation of instruction;
  • Utilize assessment data purposefully to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions;
  • Incorporate technology meaningfully to enhance and extend learning;
  • Implement effective classroom management practices that foster a positive, orderly environment conducive to learning;
  • Regularly review and update curriculum maps to ensure appropriate pacing, scope, and instructional priorities;
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records and school documentation as required;
  • Partner proactively with parents through timely communication including posted assignments, grades, and conferences, in support of each student's academic and behavioral growth;
  • Integrate Biblical principles and a Christian philosophy of education across all subjects, activities, and interactions;
  • Model authentic Christian faith in classroom culture, relationships, and daily practice;
  • Help students understand and embrace their identity and worth in Christ, supporting them in making God-honoring choices;
  • Embrace and reflect the mission, vision, and foundational beliefs of SCS in all communications and conduct, representing the school professionally to its constituency and the general public;
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families, motivating students to accept God's gift of salvation and helping them grow in their faith;
  • Demonstrate initiative, a strong work ethic, and consistent follow-through on all projects;
  • Keep the Administration informed of any known serious issues that may impact the school;
  • Address conflict with students, parents, staff, and Administration respectfully and privately, according to the Matthew 18 principle;
  • Know and follow all procedures for emergency situations, exercising sound judgement.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
  • Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned;
  • Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth;
  • Provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school;
  • Support the broader program of the school by attending extracurricular activities when possible;
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Administration.
REQUIRED SPIRITUAL QUALITIES
  • Have received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior;
  • Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living;
  • Be in whole-hearted agreement with Salisbury Christian School’s Foundational documents;
  • Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others including a commitment to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40);
  • Be a member in good standing at an evangelical church that has a Statement of Faith in agreement with the SCS Statement of Faith;
  • Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ;
  • Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children's education and be prepared to serve and support them in that calling;
  • Have the Spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go.”
ESSENTIAL PERSONAL QUALITIES
  • Demonstrate the qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, punctuality, and professionalism;
  • Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism;
  • Maintain a personal appearance that reflects professionalism, modesty, cleanliness, and alignment with school policy;
  • Communicate with clarity, accuracy, and grace in both written and oral expression;
  • Respectfully submit to and support constituted authority, and notify administration promptly when unable to support a policy;
  • Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately;
  • Prioritize responsibilities to SCS above outside employment or volunteer commitments when conflicts arise;
  • Demonstrate genuine care for and interest in the students, families, and staff that make up the SCS community;
  • Model a lifestyle consistent with the school's Statement of Faith and Christian Code of Conduct, both on and off campus;
  • Pursue ongoing personal and professional growth in support of the school's mission;
  • Work collaboratively and collegially with fellow staff, approaching relationships with humility and a servant's heart.

  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience preferred.
