Job summary

Mounds Park Academy in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a full-time Upper School Math teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The role includes teaching multiple sections of Upper School math, including algebra, geometry and trigonometry, to support a rigorous college prep program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in one or more Math related subjects.
  • Master's Degree or equivalent, preferable.
  • Five (5) years teaching experience at the upper school level or beyond.
  • Experience teaching Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics, preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to five sections of Upper School Math.
  • Emphasize critical thinking through content, research, and analysis.
  • Make math relevant and meaningful by inspiring students.
  • Create and use diverse lesson plans and syllabi as per MPA Math Curriculum Review.
  • Supervise, encourage, counsel, and evaluate students.
  • Foster and sustain an effective classroom environment that fosters open discussion with varied points of view.
  • Utilize and incorporate available academic technology for instruction.
  • Communicate and meet with students and parents during scheduled conferences and as necessary.
  • Participate in Math Department and staff development activities.
  • Revise and plan new curriculum in conjunction with other members of the Math Department.
  • Show willingness to contribute to life of the school outside the classroom.
  • Perform additional duties as needed ( committees, open houses, clubs, etc.).

Mounds Park Academy is a PreK-12 independent school in Saint Paul, MN that serves approximately 575 students from throughout the Twin Cities area. Mounds Park Academy seeks a full-time (1.0 FTE) Upper School Math teacher preferably with experience in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry for the 2026 - 2027 school year. This position includes teaching multiple sections of Upper School math which may include algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Math teachers at MPA are responsible for providing a classroom instructional program that supports the individual needs of all students in accordance with the school’s mission and values. We seek individuals with one or more degrees in a math-related subject and experience in teaching high school age students.

It is expected that a successful candidate would:

  • Teach up to five (5) sections of Upper School Math
  • Emphasize critical thinking through content, research, and analysis
  • Make math relevant and meaningful by inspiring students
  • Create and use diverse lesson plans and syllabi as per MPA Math Curriculum Review
  • Supervise, encourage, counsel, and evaluate students
  • Foster and sustain an effective classroom environment that fosters open discussion with the freedom to express varied points of view
  • Utilize and incorporate available academic technology for instruction
  • Communicate and meet with students and parents during scheduled conferences and as necessary
  • Participate in Math Department and staff development activities
  • Revise and plan new curriculum in conjunction with other members of the Math Department
  • Show a willingness to contribute to the life of the school outside of the classroom
  • Perform additional duties as needed (serve on school-wide committees, attend open houses, advise a student club, etc.)

Qualifications and Experiences Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in one or more Math related subjects
  • Master's Degree or equivalent, preferable
  • Five (5) years teaching experience at the upper school level or beyond
  • Experience teaching Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics, preferable
